The Bus was the 22nd episode in Season 2 of Alice, and the 46th overall series episode; it first aired on CBS-TV on March 6, 1978. Prepared for TV as a teleplay by Erik Tarloff from a story written by Chris Hayward , the episode was directed by Marc Daniels.
Synopsis
The staff of Mel's Diner brace themselves for a busload of customers.
Storyline
Alice, Flo and Vera begin to consider joining a union after they get fed up with Mel's treatment. Meanwhile, Mel is all excited when a tour bus drops off a load of customers including an AWOL Navy man and his spoiled girlfriend, a blind woman, a woman plagued by motion sickness and a older Jewish couple. When the diner stays open late, the girls decide a union is the best way to go especially when Mel orders them to work late with no overtime.
